Horde Mode 3.0 pits up to four players against waves upon waves of enemies whilst the Versus Modes will be the mainstay for most. However, the multiplayer is the strongest it's ever been. We're also not that fussed about fighting robots. Much as we respect The Coalition for mixing up the style and the interplay, the characters can't quite compete with the original team of Marcus, Dom, Baird and Cole. The single-player campaign is great, but isn't quite as strong as any of the three original entries. It was created by a team led by THE Rod Fergusson, the executive producer on the first three Gears of War games and the very same team that brought you the excellent Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.īut that didn't stop it feeling slightly disappointing.
